Akron, OH, trucking company Roadway Corp. is cleared to join forces with rival Overland Park, KS-based Yellow Corp., the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
The waiting period required under the antitrust law has expired regarding Yellow's proposed acquisition of Roadway.
The two companies are scheduled to hold special stockholder meetings Dec. 9 to vote on whether to approve the deal. Yellow said that if stockholders approve the deal, it could close as early as Dec. 11. The combined companies would be called Yellow-Roadway Corp.
Yellow agreed to buy Roadway for $966 million in cash and stock.
