California emissions software hearing rescheduled

The California Air Resources Board has rescheduled its public hearing to consider a regulation that would require a heavy-duty diesel engine software upgrade. The hearing will now take place during a two-day meeting beginning at 8 a.m. Dec. 11 in the second-floor auditorium at the California Environmental Protection Agency, 1001 I Street in Sacramento, CA.

If adopted, this proposed regulation would require reprogramming the engine computers of 1993-1999 model year heavy-duty vehicles to reduce exhaust emissions.

Because this regulation will be considered during a two-day meeting of the CARB, this particular item may not be considered until Dec. 12. The CARB recommends consulting the agenda for the meeting, which will be available at least 10 days before the meeting, to determine the day on which this item will be considered.

At 8 a.m. the day this regulation will be considered, a demonstration of heavy-duty diesel engine reprogramming will be conducted on the east side of the 1001 I Street building.

In addition to rescheduling the hearing, the CARB also set new comment period deadlines.
