Trailers lengthened in Mississippi

Mississippi Gov. Ronnie Musgrove has signed legislation to increase the maximum allowable length of semi-trailers from 50 feet to 53 feet.

Prior to the bill being signed into law, 53-foot trailers in the state were allowed on federal highways, but were required to get a permit for state highways, according to The Associated Press.

SB2531 passed the Senate in February and was approved by the House in March. The new law has been in effect since late March.
