A bill that would set new fines for overweight trucks in Florida has died for this session.
Under SB202, fines for trucks that are up to 500 pounds overweight would have ranged from $35 for the first violation to $80 for the third violation in the same year. Trucks that are more than 500 pounds overweight would also have been levied an additional fine per pound.
The bill was prefiled Jan. 6 and was referred to the Senate Transportation Committee and the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation and Economic Development. It remained in those committees until May 2, when the session ended.
