A bill to extend daytime lane restrictions on trucks to 24 hours a day in Palm Beach County, FL, is dead for this year in the state’s Legislature.
Trucks traveling through the county now are prohibited from I-95’s left lane from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. HB497, introduced by Rep. Irv Slosberg, D-Boca Raton, would have extended the prohibition around the clock.
The two-year pilot project would not begin – and citations would not be issued to truckers – until signs are posted along the highway, according to information on the legislative Web site.
The measure passed the House May 1 by a vote of 116-0, but died in the Senate Transportation Committee May 2.
