Police arrest two in truck-theft case

Los Angeles-area law-enforcement officers have broken a ring of truck-cargo thieves in California, The Los Angeles Daily News reported. Police contend the group is responsible for the thefts of several tractor-trailers and their cargo.

Two men were arrested March 11 after city police, county officials and state agents, who had kept the pair under surveillance, observed them unloading stolen cargo in broad daylight. The officers recovered roughly $1.5 million worth of stolen cargo, including auto parts and custom cabinets.

Police have questioned two other people in the case and are pursuing other people alleged to be members of the theft ring in California, the newspaper reported. The two men who were arrested were not identified.
