Gov. Frank Murkowski’s budget includes millions of dollars for new
roads, The Fairbanks News-Miner reported March 11.
Among
the projects, according to the newspaper:
- A route linking the small village of Rampart to the state’s road
system.
- Village connector roads in the Upper Yukon area.
- A proposed
Yukon River Highway possibly running from the Elliott Highway to
Unalakleet or possibly Nome.
- Money to purchase
land for the Illinois Street expansion project in Fairbanks.
- Money
to purchase land to widen University Avenue, also in Fairbanks.
Murkowski
proposed the budget Wednesday, March 10; it is now before the state’s
legislature.
