Lane restrictions introduced in Florida

A bill in Florida that would extend daytime lane restrictions on trucks to 24 hours a day has been introduced in the House of Representatives.

Trucks traveling through Palm Beach County now are prohibited from I-95’s left lane from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. HB497, a pilot project introduced by Rep. Irv Slosberg, D-Boca Raton, would extend the prohibition around the clock.

The two-year pilot project would not begin – and citations would not be issued to truckers – until signs are posted along the highway, according to information on the legislative Web site. The bill has been referred to five different committees and subcommittees.
