Giant announces completion of Gallup travel center to Pilot

The company's first slogan, "Big on Service," was personified in the form of a friendly giant during the 1960s. And truckers agree, among U.S. truckstops, the Giant Travel Center in Gallup, NM, is one of the biggest.

Giant Industries Inc. announced today that the 65-acre facility had been sold to Pilot Travel Centers LLC.

Located 120 miles east of Albuquerque on I-40, the truckstop is Pilot’s third travel center in New Mexico. About 5,000 big rigs and automobiles stop there each day. The center pumps 30 million to 35 million gallons of diesel and gasoline a year.

Giant Industries Inc., headquartered in Scottsdale, AZ, is a refiner and marketer of petroleum products. The company says the sale should be final at the end of the month.
