Road funding bill up for vote soon in California Assembly

The California Assembly will soon take a final vote on a bill that would make it easier to raise money for roads in the state.

In California, it now takes a two-thirds vote to increase taxes for roads. Under ACA7, a local or regional transportation agency could impose a half-cent sales tax if it were approved by a lower standard of 55 percent of voters in an election.

Three Assembly committees have voted in favor of the bill. The bill must pass the Senate and would have to be approved by voters to become law.
