Alaska’s governor wants the state to finance the construction of more roads in the state’s back country, The Anchorage Daily News reported recently.

Even the smallest of the roads could costs tens of millions, the newspaper reported.
Oil revenue, which funds much of the state budget, would fund a good part of the governor’s proposed road work as well.
Alaska, like many other states, is suffering from budget difficulties, a rarity in the oil-rich state. Gov. Frank Murkowski has already vetoed several parts of the state budget.
