As Wyoming lawmakers prepare to head to Cheyenne to kick off the legislative session Jan. 14, a bill that would boost the state’s fuel tax by 3 cents per gallon is planned for introduction, the Casper Star-Tribune reported. Revenue generated would be placed into a new multi-lane highway fund.

The state’s Joint Transportation Highway Interim Committee is sponsoring a bill to increase the fuel tax from 14 to 17 cents per gallon. The bill, which includes exemptions for off-road use, reportedly would raise about $19 million in revenue a year.
