Oklahoma board approves highway expansion

Oklahoma Highway 152 will be expanded and routed around the community of Wheatland, a small town southwest of Oklahoma City, under a plan that received approval from state transportation commissioners Jan. 6, The Oklahoma City Oklahoman reported.

The plan calls for a two-mile stretch of the two-lane highway to be rebuilt as a five-land road from its current path along 74th Street near the Canadian County line north to 59th Street, where it would become a four-lane divided highway until it meets to Council Road. The new alignment runs west and north of the community, rather than through it as the current road does.
