A bill introduced earlier this month in the Oklahoma Senate seeks to slow down big rigs on state roadways.

Under the measure, sponsored by state Sen. James Williamson (R-Tulsa), trucks would be required to travel 10 mph below the posted limit on state roadways. SB331 also prohibits tractor-trailers from driving in a highway’s left lane.

“A truck-tractor may be driven in the left lane only when overtaking and passing another vehicle … in the same direction, when the truck-tractor does not impede traffic, and passing can be completed within one mile,” Williamson wrote.
