Bill would stop Idaho cities from setting speed limits on state highways

A legislative hearing was scheduled Feb. 10 in Boise on a bill that would prevent local governments in Idaho from setting speed limits on state highways that pass through their boundaries.

Under the bill, the state DOT would set the speed limits.

HB114 targets cities that reduce highway speeds to as little as 35 mph within their boundaries. Officials from a number of Idaho cities have said they oppose the measure.
