Proposal would hike Texas’ fuel tax

Texas lawmakers are expected to consider a measure in the House and Senate to push fuel prices higher to help pay for badly needed highway projects, The Dallas Morning News reported recently.

The proposal calls for increasing the state’s 20-cent-per-gallon fuel tax by 2 cents a gallon every year for the next 10 years, the newspaper reported. The revenue would go toward building new roads and maintaining old ones.
