Canadian Freightliner plant may face strike

Freightliner’s Sterling Truck Plant in St. Thomas, Ontario, may face a strike by more than 1,000 union workers, Reuters news service reported Feb. 3.

The workers at the plant, which produces about 70 medium- and heavy-duty trucks a day, voted 88 percent in favor of a strike after negotiations with the truck producer stalled over wages, benefits and pensions, according to a statement from the Canadian Auto Workers.
