Truckers moving freight from Atlanta to Athens, GA, may soon have another alternative – albeit a costly one.
The state will soon receive proposals to turn Georgia Route 316 – also known as University Parkway – into a four-lane, limited-access toll road, The Associated Press reported. The proposal is linked to a plan to turn the area into a science-driven industry corridor.
If the proposal moves forward, it will also be the first use of a law in the state that allows private developers to build roads, the news service added.
