The average U.S. retail price of diesel fuel decreased to $1.502 from the previous average of $1.504, the Department of Energy reported, ending a four-week rise.

The highest average prices are in California, at $1.676 a gallon; on the West Coast, where the price is $1.630; and in New England, where the price is $1.656. The lowest prices are on the Gulf Coast, at $1.456, and in the Lower Atlantic region, where the average price is $1.457.

Other average prices: the Central Atlantic region, where the price is $1.625; the Rocky Mountain region, where the price is $1.528; $1.472 in the Midwest; and $1.516 on the East Coast.
