New section of Denver highway opens

A new section of the beltway around Denver opened recently five weeks before scheduled – and on budget – area media outlets reported.

The Northwest Parkway, a roughly 10-mile toll road, runs from the east state Route 470 interchange with Interstate 25, which sits east of Lafayette, south and west to its end at 9th Street and U.S. 36. That crossing is northwest of Broomfield.

Another planned highway would connect the new road to the western part of the Denver area, but officials in Golden, CO, have opposed that effort because of the potential impact of their community.
