A Cuba, MO, commercial trucking company, its owner and an employee were indicted Dec. 1 for federal transportation and environmental violations, U.S. Attorney Ray Gruender told the St. Louis Business Journal.
Voss Transportation Inc., its owner David Voss and Merry Robinson were indicted by a federal grand jury on multiple felony counts, including conspiracy to make false statements to a federal government agency; conspiracy to make false statements and violation of the Clean Air Act; violation of the Clean Water Act; and failure to notify a federal agency of harmful discharge of oil.
The indictment charges Voss and Robinson of allowing drivers to exceed the number of driving hours permitted by federal regulation and conspiring to conceal the action. The trips were not recorded on logbooks or other records. In addition, drivers were paid for the trips not recorded on logbooks.
Voss also allegedly sold conventional gasoline at two stations in Franklin County when they were required to sell reformulated gasoline.
If convicted, each faces maximum penalties of five years in prison and/or a $250,000 fine on several counts, and a maximum penalty of one year in prison and/or a $25,000 fine on two other counts.
