Truckdriver James Merrywell, 51, of Glenpool, OK, was killed Friday when he stopped to lend a hand to a fellow trucker, local media outlets reported.
About 8 p.m. near the town of Webbers Falls, OK, along Interstate 40, Merrywell spotted a truck that had jack-knifed because of bad weather. Like many truckers, he immediately stopped to lend a hand.
As he talked to the other driver, a third truck headed down the road struck Merrywell. He was declared dead on arrival at Muskogee Regional Medical Center.
