Security committee may raise its profile

After keeping a low profile during its first three months of life, expect to see a more active Homeland Security Committee, The Hill reports.

Democrats on the House panel have complained that the 50-member group hasn't done enough since January to assess terrorist threats and oversee the new Department of Homeland Security.

This pressure, coupled with the determination of Chairman Chris Cox, R-CA, to make the new committee a success, should yield more hearings and perhaps, as many on the panel would hope, a visit from Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge.
