Alabama's Legislature is considering a bill that would set a maximum speed limit on the state's interstates of 65 mph for tractor-trailers. The current speed limit on most of the state's interstates is 70 mph.
SB8, introduced by Sen. Larry Means, D-Atalla, would also restrict trucks to the right lane or lanes of highways in the state.
The bill sets the fine for either offense at $150 for the first offense and $300 for any subsequent offense.
SB8 has been referred to the Commerce, Transportation and Utilities Committee.
