The Michigan Transportation Commission last week approved more than $104 million in road, bridge and airport improvement projects statewide. The contract approvals include 43 state projects, 31 local projects and one airport improvement project.
"This represents just a portion of a near-record year for transportation investments in Michigan," said State Transportation Director Gregory Rosine. "Our goal is to have 90 percent of state roads in good condition by 2007, and we are well on our way."
Microsurfacing and crack-sealing on about 18 miles of I-275 in Wayne County, upgrading overhead signs on 17 miles of I-94 between Battle Creek and Kalamazoo, and construction of a passing relief lane on M-66 in Ionia County are included in the package.
