Alabama trucker killed in bridge fall

An Alabama truckdriver was killed Monday night when his semi jackknifed on a rain soaked I-65 bridge near Decatur, AL, smashed through a concrete guardrail and plunged into the Tennessee River.

Christopher Neil Brown, 27, of Bremen, swerved to miss a car during heavy rain at about 6 p.m., according to published reports. The truck apparently bounced off the left guardrail in the southbound lane, then crashed through the right guardrail and plummeted into the murky waters.

Divers recovered Brown's body from the submerged truck cab about two hours later. Southbound lanes stayed closed until late Monday night.
