Florida East Coast Industries Inc. Tuesday announced it will halt its regional long-haul trucking operations at its trucking unit, Florida Express Carriers.

Florida Express Carriers, primarily a railway company, said the move will allow it to focus on intermodal drayage in areas within 250 miles of its rail hubs in Atlanta, Jacksonville and Miami. As the company cancels its long-haul trucking operations, the St. Augustine, FL-based company will replace all company drivers with independent third-party contractors to provide the drayage services.
