VDOT fires 17 for prowling Internet porn sites

The Virginia Department of Transportation has fired 17 workers who spent several hours a day surfing Internet porn sites. The Washington Times reports.

In addition, eight temporary workers were fired for spending too much time viewing sites such as ESPN, AOL and eBay that were not related to work. VDOT Commissioner Philip Shucet said the positions of the fired workers will not be refilled. The action comes after an internal VDOT audit during the week of April 8 that monitored all workers' computers. All offenders were men and were in managerial, midlevel and administrative positions.
