Thousands of officers ready to enforce seat-belt laws this week

Officers from more than 12,000 law-enforcement agencies will be on the road nationwide this week targeting drivers who do not use their safety belts, according to a report from WJLA television in the Washington, DC, area.

The campaign started Monday, Nov. 25, and runs through Dec. 1. It will include checkpoints, increased patrols on the highways and tickets for drivers who do not buckle up or properly restrain children.
