Truckers who use Bridgestone or Firestone tires will pay a little more after the first of the year, the company announced this week.
Bridgestone Corp. announced that its Bridgestone/Firestone North American tire unit would raise prices on car and truck tires starting Jan. 1. The increases will cover higher raw-material costs, the company said in a statement.
Susan Sizemore, a spokesperson for the company, confirmed that Bridgestone, Firestone and Dayton tires made for tractor-trailers and other commercial trucks would increase 3 percent to 4 percent.
Bloomberg News reported this week that the Bridgestone move follows similar increases from Goodyear Tire and Rubber, Michelin's North America unit and Cooper Tire and Rubber Co.
