A tractor-trailer was damaged in Detroit Monday after three teen-agers in a stolen car hit the vehicle, according to local police and media reports.
The car - driven by a 15-year-old with two passengers, aged 13 and 14 - collided with the front of the rig, which was parked in front of the owner's home near the corner of Heintz and Mount Elliott streets, not far from the crossing of I-75 and I-94. The driver had lost control of the vehicle during what local media reports called "a joyride."
Police told Detroit's WDIV Channel 4 the car was stolen two days before the collision in the Detroit area community of Hamtramck.
The owner of the tractor-trailer, Wayne Taylor, told Channel 4 he heard a loud crash that sounded like something fell out of the sky. A spokesman for the Detroit Police was not able to say how much damage was caused to the tractor-trailer but confirmed the car the youths were driving was totaled.
Police told Land Line that two of the youths were in critical condition at Detroit Children's Hospital. The third, the 13-year-old, is listed in serious condition. Police did not know yet whether charges would be filed in the case.
