The Bekins Co. recently honored OOIDA member Richard Rehm as one of its 2001 drivers of the year. He also has received three driver of the month awards (June 1997, November 2000 and September 2001).
Rehm was recognized at Bekins' annual convention in Oak Brook, IL, for his professionalism, timeliness, communications, revenue, claims experience and customer-service skills. He received numerous gifts, including a free vacation.
The award is the most prestigious honor the company awards to its drivers. One recipient is chosen from each of the company's seven fleet categories based on nominations from fellow Bekins contractors, agents and van line personnel.
Rehm, of Germantown, WI, has worked for Anchor Moving Systems since 1978 and has been a Bekins driver for 13 years.
Rehm credits his longevity in the industry to his work habits: "I just work hard, and I get along with my dispatchers, and I don't have problems with most of my loads."
OOIDA members Gary and Cathy Swisegood, Kingman, AZ; and Jerry Wallace, Conroe, TX, also were nominated.
