According to figures released by the U.S. Energy Department Nov. 12, the national average cost of diesel fuel per gallon dipped for the third consecutive week to $1.427, compared to last week's average price of $1.442.
Prices dropped in all regions of the country.
The highest price nationally is in California ($1.541). The lowest average prices this week are in the Gulf Coast region ($1.371) and the Lower Atlantic ($1.379).
The remaining regions' price-per-gallon is as follows: East Coast, $1.42; Central Atlantic, $1.501; Midwest, $1.425; Rocky Mountain, $1.496; and the West Coast, $1.517, respectively. The Department of Energy reports the average price of self-serve each week. Prices are based on a survey of 350 diesel service centers nationwide and include taxes.
