Police seek truck in Harlem accident

Authorities are looking for a semidriver that may have unknowingly struck and killed a man walking across a Harlem, NY, street with his bicycle Monday. Investigators believe the driver never realized he hit the pedestrian.

Police said after Cyril Watkins, of Harlem, was hit about 10:15 p.m., the driver stopped at the next red traffic light, an indication he was not looking to get away in a hurry.

The incident occurred as Watkins was crossing Frederick Douglass Boulevard, north of East 134th Street. The truck allegedly was headed south on the boulevard.

The tractor-trailer was described as all-white with Maine plates. One witness gave police a license plate number, but the number reportedly doesn't exist. Police are checking different versions of the plate number provided.
