U.S DOT numbers required next week for Canadian carriers

On July 3, all Canadian carriers operating in the United States are required to have their U.S. DOT number posted on both sides of the cab. The new number is different from the old ICC number.

According to a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration ruling passed in July 2000, carriers were allowed up to two years to make the change. Fleets must update the information on their MC-150 by July 5, 2005.

Other requirements can be found in Title 49CFR Part 390.21 subpart B at www.fmcsa.dot.gov.
