Trucks weighing more than 26,000 pounds will continue to be exempt from sales and use tax in Louisiana according to a report issued in June by the Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA) Weekly.
HB40, introduced by Rep. Billy Montgomery (D-Bossier City), exempts trucks and trailers from sales and use tax if at least 80 percent of the vehicles' use involves interstate commerce.
A pre-existing exemption was set to expire on July 1. The new law extends the exemption until July 1, 2004.
