At a weekend meeting, the International Longshoremen and Warehouse Union rejected a proposal by Pacific Maritime Association. The ILWU and PMA Saturday at ILWU headquarters, according to the PMA. PMA passed a number of documents across the table, including a new proposal. A discussion ensued, followed by a Union caucus. The union returned at 7:10 p.m. and categorically rejected the proposal.
Because failure
to negotiate will allow the current contract to expire, PMA chief
Joseph Miniace said Monday he would stay at the bargaining table
for as long as it takes to reach an agreement and he asked the
union to do the same.
