Three charged with stealing cigarette-laden truck

A federal grand jury in Charleston, WV, has charged three men with stealing a tractor-trailer loaded with nearly $2 million worth of cigarettes, The Associated Press reported Dec. 19.

The three Miami residents - Lazaro Gomez, 30, Lazaro Rey, 34, and Juan Carlos Gomez, 33 - are accused of conspiring with two others to steal the truck, take the cigarettes and sell them in Atlanta, the report said. The truck was stolen from a rest area on the West Virginia Turnpike about 25 miles south of Charleston. Police found the vehicle north of that location.
