Two thieves hijacked a truck Dec. 9 near Coquitlam, British Columbia, and removed a load of Sony electronics from the driver's rig.
The truck was rear-ended by a Ford Explorer. When the driver stepped out of his rig to check the damage, he was grabbed by one of the people in the SUV. He was forced into the back of his truck and taken away from the scene.
The driver was then held for four or five hours, according to local media reports. Two gunmen tied his hands and covered his head with a bag. He was left in a ditch while the thieves took off with the electronics equipment.
"I thought that was the end, that I would never see my girls again," the driver, whose name was not revealed, told local news media. Before taking off, the thieves set fire to the Ford Explorer used in the heist; police suspect it was stolen.
