NJ governor names Sinagra to Highway Authority

Jack Sinagra, chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, has been named to the New Jersey Highway Authority by Gov. James McGreevey, according to a report from The Newark Star-Ledger.

The McGreevey administration wants to combine the Highway Authority, which operates the Garden State Parkway, and the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, the newspaper said. That would create a need for a single person who would run both agencies. Sinagra told the Star-Ledger he was interested in that post if the agencies did merge.

Charles Kushner is widely thought to be the governor's choice to head the Port Authority, which for the past year has concentrated on cleaning up and rebuilding at the former site of the World Trade Center. Kushner has been McGreevey's top fund-raiser.
