A St. Louis-based trucking firm was fined $25,000 Dec. 5 for failing to maintain records under a federal plea agreement, according to a published report.
In exchange for the fine, Affton Trucking Co. agreed to plead guilty to a misdemeanor criminal charge of failing to keep legible freight documents, the St. Louis Business Journal reported. The settlement, approved Thursday by U.S. District Court Judge Mary Ann Medler, follows a federal investigation by the Office of the Inspector General.
Officials charged that the $12 million truck firm didn't keep legible freight documents between May 2000 and May 2001.
Affton Trucking has a fleet of 75 trucks and 80 drivers and owner-operators. The company also employs 125 people.
