CHP polar bears take to the interstates

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is again promoting its use of sleek, all-white Camaros to curb speeding or reckless tractor-trailer drivers.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Aug. 22 that 73 of the Camaros, at a cost of $25,000 each, are patrolling California interstates.

With only a CHP emblem on the two doors and a thin light bar on the roof, the cars are difficult to spot. California authorities hope word spreads about the ghost cars to encourage safe driving.
