Peerless Trailers are recalling 870 trailers manufactured between May 1998 and December 1999. The trailers in question are mostly for use in hauling wood and agricultural products.

On certain trailers, cracks can develop in the channel supports of the kingpin assembly. If cracks form and are not detected, they can become larger and eventually lead to fracture of the channel supports.

Dealers will replace the channel style kingpin assembly with an I-beam style king pin assembly. The manufacturer has reported that owner notification began June 4, 2002. Owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Peerless at 1-870-236-7753.
