Attorney General John Ashcroft will support a House bill to break the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) into two separate federal agencies, AP reported.

The bill would abolish the INS and the bureaus of Citizenship and Immigration Services and Immigration Enforcement would take over. The new agencies would remain under Ashcroft's control.
