The first annual All Marmon Truck Gathering was held at the Sunpower Travel Plaza in Denton, TX, on April 19 and 20. The show was the inspiration of OOIDA member Ken Matuszak, the owner of the last Marmon built in 1997.
According to Matuszak, a resident of McKinney, TX, "We picked this spot because it was the site of a Border Cowboy truckstop back in the 1960s when the Marmon was made here in Denton before they moved the plant to Garland, TX."
OOIDA members Ron and Diane Smith, better known as the team of Snuffy and Granny, were among the attendees. The Smiths, who are very proud of their OOIDA memberships said, "This gathering just shows the power of a group effort, just like OOIDA. You get like-minded people together for any good cause and things can happen."
Matuszak
said that he was enthusiastic about the turnout and hopes for
even a bigger gathering next year.
