This year's Parade of Lights at the St. Ignace, MI, NAST beauty truck show will be dedicated to Land Line's senior editor Ruth Jones, who died June 8 after a long battle with cancer. Ruth was also an OOIDA member and a member of the National Association of Show Trucks.
The Parade of Lights on Sept. 15 is one of the high points of the annual Richard Crane Memorial Truck Show, which runs Sept. 14-16. For the past three years, Road King Magazine has sponsored the parade across the Mackinac Straits Bridge. The show boasts an amazing sight - six-plus miles of gleaming, glowing, horn-tooting trucks being cheered by onlookers.
Ruth was an avid member of NAST - the National Association of Show Trucks. Between reporting assignments at truck shows, she laid aside her pen and pad to help her husband, Dee, prepare their stunning Freightliner company show truck, "Lost in the '50s," for competition. Dee drives for All Freight Systems of Kansas City, KS, and has been invited to lead the parade.
