Excessive speed is to blame for a fatal crash last week in Mexico's Yucatan between a truck and a bus, according to published reports. The truck, loaded with metal gasoline cylinders, smashed into the bus, killing seven people and injuring 21 others.
The accident occurred along a winding jungle highway about 45 miles outside the seaside resort of Cancun. Reports indicate the accident occurred when truckdriver Julio Cesar Aguilar took a curve too fast and careened into the bus, which was on its way to the Yucatan city of Izamal.
Aguilar and the bus driver reportedly were among those killed in the crash. The impact did not ignite any of the gasoline cylinders.
