Amidst continuing weak demand for new trailers, Trailmobile Canada Ltd. said it will cut trailer production by about 25 percent starting next week.
In a press release, Trailmobile said the production cut is in line with the 65 percent decline in backlog levels from what was reported at the end of the first quarter that ended Dec. 29. The company realized a loss of $435,388 for the second quarter of fiscal 2001, compared to a profit of $604,195 for the same period last year.
Trailmobile said it expects the weak demand for trailers to continue at least through the 2001 fiscal year. Trailmobile Canada, formerly Mond Industries, makes dry-freight trailers for commercial trucking.
