PACCAR boosts truck production

PACCAR has announced that it will increase production of some heavy- and medium-duty trucks over the next month. The Bellevue, WA-based company credits growing demand for the production boost.

PACCAR will increase the Class 8 truck production build rate of its Peterbilt division by 8 percent, effective July 16. It will also increase the build rate of its Class 6/7 trucks manufactured at its Ste. Therese, Quebec, facility by 22 percent, effective Aug. 6.

Mark Pigott, PACCAR chairman and CEO, said "Kenworth and Peterbilt Class 8 trucks continue to have the highest resale values in North America, which is especially important to our customers during the industry slowdown." He also said the company is strongly positioned for further growth when the North American truck market returns to normal sales levels.
