Prices for both diesel fuel and gasoline climbed last week for the first time since Sept. 11. The national average retail price of diesel was up to $1.154 on Dec. 24 after a steady 13-week slide.

According to the Energy Information Administration of the Department of Energy, which surveys retail prices at stations weekly, diesel rose nationally in all but two of the regions tracked by the DOE.
